I moved to western Canada about 26 years ago. I found the lifestyle quite different from the way I was raised in eastern Canada. There were many things I had to become accustomed to and country and western music was one of them. I found it whiney for lack of a better word. Western music at that time was all about losing the wife and the house and pretty much everything else that a guy could possibly lose. If it wasn't that then it was a woman singing about a broken heart. I found it very boring and I just wouldn't listen to it. Fast forward a few years and 4 teenagers later. They loved the country and western music and blasted it from their stereos from the time they woke up until they went to bed. After awhile I realized that western music had changed. It was funny and the beat was nicer. I found myself singing to many of the songs and I had a favorite artist or two. I love almost every kind of music and I am now a full fledged country and western music fan too.
