When I was younger, I was always around adults that loved country singing. Country music was all over the place. We lived where there were farmers, ranchers, and mixed farmers (grew grain and raised cattle), so, anything western was big news. If there was a concert in the nearest city, our little community would empty out as people made the trip to see their favorite stars. These were the ones they listened to on the country countdown charts, the winners of many awards, the true stars they'd seen on videos, the big news makers. No wonder everybody left town. Everybody, that is, except me. The western music performer was not the artist of my choice. I don't know what it was about country music--it just didn't do it for me--didn't do it for me then. But, those roots must have run deeper than I thought, for today, I love to listen to good country music, and to read the latest news on the singers at the tops of the charts. I've gone a bit country, I guess, and I like it.
